Scholarship Information & Application

It is the policy of the Santa Barbara Swim Club (SBSC) to enable children to learn to swim or compete in swimming despite a lack of financial means to pay. Accordingly, SBSC is committed to conducting various fundraisers each year to fund a scholarship budget. Scholarships awarded by SBSC will cover a portion of monthly training fees and pool usage fees, as determined based on financial need and available club funds. Swim meet entry fees and travel expenses will not be covered by the scholarship. Scholarship recipients are still obligated to Club Support fees. The number of scholarships granted by SBSC in a given year will be granted based on the annual club budget.

The application process is initiated by completing a scholarship application and submitting it to the SBSC office. One board member of the Scholarship Committee will summarize all scholarship requests and prepare an anonymous summary for review and consideration by the SBSC Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship Committee will make all reasonable efforts to review and respond within two weeks from the date the application is received.

If granted, scholarships will be reviewed periodically by the SBSC Scholarship Committee. SBSC reserves the right to rescind a scholarship if the scholarship recipient’s financial situation no longer meets the criteria for scholarship. Scholarships will terminate on September 30th each year, and must be renewed annually for financial assistance to continue.
