Waves 1
Ages 9-12
PREREQUISITES FOR ENTRY: Must be able to swim 25 meters of the pool demonstrating freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly staying horizontal from the head to the feet.
DESCRIPTION: Swimmers in Waves 1 have some competitive swimming experience. The focus of this group is to refine and continue to develop the swimmer’s skills. Conditioning and endurance training are also introduced. All of the swimmer’s other activities, such as soccer, baseball, dance, etc. are encouraged. Swimmers generally compete in SBSC hosted inter-squad and sanctioned invitational meets and are encouraged to attend at least 3-4 practices offered each week. More experienced swimmers generally compete in local level swim meets. Progression to the next level is based on age (Junior White) or achievement (Waves 2).
PREREQUISITES AND PROTOCOLS FOR PROMOTION: Promotion to Junior Blue will be offered on the 1st of the month after a swimmer's 12th birthday.
Swimmers may be eligible for Junior Blue if:
- they have achieved three 11-12 BB times in two different strokes.
- they have completed the 11-12 IMX
- they can complete the following practice sets:
- 10 x 100 S @ 1:40 (odds FR, evens IM)
- 10 x 50 K @ 1:10 (all strokes)
- 3 x (1 x 200 S FR @ 3:20, 1 x 200 S IM @ 3:40)
Junior Blue eligible swimmers may be promoted earlier if they have achieved an 11-12 year old WAG time (eligible Aug 1 if they will turn 11 before WAG), an 11-12 year old Spring JO time (eligible January 1 if they will be 11 before Spring JOs), or an 11-12 year old JAG time (eligible April 1 if they will be 11 before JAG).

Waves 2
Ages 9-12
PREREQUISITES FOR ENTRY: Competition Criteria: Three BB Times in 9-10 year old events (In two different strokes)
Swimmers can complete:
- 10 x 100 S @ 1:40 (odds FR, evens IM)
- 10 x 50 K @ 1:10 (all strokes)
- 3 x (1 x 200 S FR @ 3:20, 1 x 200 S IM @ 3:40)
CHARACTER CRITERIA: Be coachable. Be a good teammate. Be hard-working.
DESCRIPTION: The focus of this group is to refine and continue to develop the swimmer’s skills. Conditioning and endurance training are also introduced. All of the swimmer’s other activities, such as soccer, baseball, dance, etc. are encouraged. Swimmers generally compete in SBSC hosted inter-squad and sanctioned invitational meets and are encouraged to attend at least 3-5 practices offered each week. More experienced swimmers generally compete in local "BRW" level swim meets and possible travel out side of the state. Skills are still being developed to advance to the next level. Progression to the next level is based on age (Gold) or achievement (Senior Development)
PREREQUISITES AND PROTOCOLS FOR PROMOTION: Promotion to Junior White will be offered after a swimmer's 13th birthday and the conclusion of a championship level meet. Promotion to Junior Blue will be offered after a swimmer's 12th Birthday and at the conclusion of a Championship level meet.
Swimmers may be eligible for Junior Blue if:
- they have achieved four 11-12 BB times.
- they have completed the 13+ IMX
- they can complete the following practice sets:
- 10 x 100 S @ 1:30 (odds FR, evens IM)
- 10 x 50 K @ 1:00 (all strokes)
- 3 x (1 x 200 S FR @ 3:00, 1 x 200 S IM @ 3:20)
Junior Blue eligible swimmers may be promoted earlier if they have achieved a 13-14 year old WAG time (eligibile Aug 1 if they will turn 12 before WAG), a 13-14 year old Spring JO time (eligible January 1 if they will be 12 before Spring JOs), or a 13-14 year old JAG time (eligible April 1 if they will be 12 before JAG).
